The Weight of Opinions

I can recall a conversation I had a few years ago that took place during lunch with a coworker. The topic of dreams came up and I expressed one of my long-term desires. To my surprise her response was, "you can't do that."

Her response didn't hurt me but it definitely came as a surprise. This wasn't the only time one of my dreams was rejected by man.

There will be plenty of times when people will tell you that you are incapable of doing things. Whether it's concerning your professional or personal life, you can have anything and everything God has set for you to receive. People around you may lack faith but it doesn't mean that you should follow their pattern. Even when it comes to a close circle of friends, you can't live your life based on their faith.

If I did that I would run the risk of mishandling my dreams. We have to keep in mind that everyone's faith is at a different level and for some, it's nonexistent. We're all operating in our own personalized race.

Matthew 19.26 (AMP) says "But Jesus looked at them and said, “With people [as far as it depends on them] it is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Additionally, faith is described as the substance of things hoped for in the evidence of things not seen. Since we know that God can not lie, then He will do just what He promised He would do.

With the aforementioned point in mind, what then can we say to the naysayers who shoot down our vocalized dreams? Here is our answer: man's no is nothing in comparison to God's yes. His approval is endorsed by His undeserved Grace and favor, which He willingly bestows upon us every day.

Often times when we express our dreams and desires to a friend or family member we do so in hopes that they'll stand in agreement with us and approve of the moves we're about to make. This isn't always the case though.

We have to get comfortable with the fact that God's approval is the only one we need. Your desires are directly connected to God's calling on your life. You are blessed not just for yourself but you are blessed in abundance so you may be a blessing to others. Everything will fall into place at the right time. Continue to stand on the promises of God.

You have the same 24 hours in a day that everyone else has. Please ignore the naysayers. Write out the vision and make it plain. Set short-term and long-term goals. Attach dates to them and include accountability measures. Additionally, surround yourself with positive thinkers who are working hard to make the most of their time.

No one enjoys a pity party. Stay away from people who look to have you around just to help them complain about what isn't going right. Be proactive. Thank God in advance and hold on tight to the love of God, especially when times get tough. Let your life be an example of God's goodness and mercy. The light in you is attractive so go ahead and let it shine bright.
