Assignment or Distraction?

Have you been focusing on your spiritual assignments or distractions?

I can't stress how important it is for saints to focus on their assignment. Too often we waste time trying to make things our business that really have nothing to do with us because they fall into the category of things God already promised to handle on our behalf. This is where discernment comes into play. The devil will dangle things in front of your face and taunt you with it just to get you to chase a distraction instead of your assignment. Not every situation deserves your attention, response or reaction. When situations occur, ask yourself if it's really a Kingdom issue that you need to address and if so how exactly do you need to address it?

Otherwise, let God handle the cares that are meant for Him. All you have to do is focus on your assignment and stay the course. It won't always be easy but God has promised that it will be well worth the reward.

Now, you may be wondering why we would choose a distraction over our assignment. Let's be transparent. There are many reasons. One is fear. Often times our assignments can seem so big that we become afraid of them for fear of failing so we don't even try. We've heard from God clearly but because we fail to see ourselves the way He does, we lose trust in Him. We feel that we're too flawed to achieve great things for Kingdom. We indulge in distractions and excuses because we don't believe that we're fit for the assignment that's been given to us. However, we have to keep in mind that God will qualify everyone He has called. We have to learn to see ourselves the way He sees us. The only way to achieve this is to spend time with Him in the Word.

We are well equipped for our assignments. If we know God is active on the inside of us then we can rest and be assured that we have all the access we need to fulfill every assignment God has for us. The devil can't interfere with our steps that have been ordered by God.

Beware. Indulging in distractions can numb you to your purpose. Focus requires faith and if you have hope then you have faith. Mind your own business and allow God to direct where your attention should go.

Keep a personal journal and record your thoughts. Write down the vision. Write down everything you hear from God. Pray your way through everything. If you ever feel yourself losing focus, just step away from the moment and turn to God. It's alright to unplug and recharge in order to refocus your focus. Rest, but don't quit. Then jump right back in with a renewed passion. You can do it.
